MIDI-to-Propane

First used: 2019

Definition

A fire art control architecture that maps MIDI note and velocity data to solenoid valve states over relays, turning a musical performance into a choreographed flame effect with velocity modulating flame height. Implemented on Raspberry Pi with SainSmart relay boards, the pattern lets a DJ's bass drop, a pedaled bicycle, or a live keyboard breathe directly into a propane installation. Killer app for the Fire Kathedral and the connective tissue between musical timing and combustion.
