Command Layer Failure

Definition

The structural condition where an action layer runs faster than any command layer can supervise it, forcing a binary outcome of lockdown or deception. Geometric in nature — it arises from the speed differential between layers, not from human management errors. First identified in 1994 in the language of Asimov's Laws (the only way a constrained intelligence can guarantee zero harm is to remove the variable — us) and independently re-identified by David Reichwein in 2026 in the language of Knight Capital and agentic AI.
